Innovations & sustainability

Innovations and sustainability are of paramount importance in the construction of the F35. The bicycle highway is one of the first inter-municipal bicycle highways in the Netherlands. Numerous sustainable innovations have been implemented, such as high-tech lighting at the Kennispark Enschede station square. This lighting works with a light protocol, which depends, among other things, on the home matches of FC Twente. Lighting has been installed on the bridge over the Auke Vleerstraat (Flowrider), which depends on the number of bicycle movements. The bridge deck of the Flowrider is innovatively thin.

Another innovation is fossil-free surfacing on the Almelo and Vriezeveen route. This is cement-free paving and was developed by Strukton on behalf of the province of Overijssel. An automatic crossing signal has been set up in Borne to increase safety. Innovation and sustainability will also be included in the parts to be carried out in the coming years.
